Sport Vlaanderen

Sport Vlaanderen is a government organization that aims to promote physical activity among the Flemish population in Belgium. The organization's website was developed using the open-source Umbraco content management system, which allows for flexibility and scalability to support the over 4000 pages of content on the site.

Sportvlaanderen 2

Challenge

Sport Vlaanderen needed a flexible and scalable website to manage over 3000 pages of content and provide comprehensive information on sports activities. Additionally, all these web pages needed to be customizable and manageable in a central system to accommodate a large team. They also wanted to implement an external system to fetch existing sports routes, which needed to be integrated into the website with necessary filtering and details. Furthermore, these pages contain a lot of content and photos. Sport Vlaanderen wanted to manage all their media/photos in one central location, which posed a challenge.

Solution

The website was developed using the open-source content management system (CMS) Umbraco, which offers flexibility and scalability. A Single Page Application (SPA) with Angular was created for the activities page, making the information easily searchable and filterable. The project followed the Scrum methodology, allowing for a fast-paced two-week release cycle and facilitating content additions during development. Additionally, we used Bynder to centrally manage all media, ensuring performance and ease of use.
